Vertical laminar flow cabinets provide a constant downward flow of clean, particle-free air onto the worksurface, protecting sensitive processes from airborne contamination. However, for this customer, clean air wasn’t the only requirement, their process was also highly sensitive to natural light. 

To deliver protection from both airborne particles and light exposure in a cost-effective and functional way, our team developed a custom vertical laminar flow cabinet with an integrated blackout curtain – offering dual-layer protection in a single, adaptable solution.

project goals

The main objectives of this project were: 

  • Create a particle-free environment for process protection 

  • Prevent natural light exposure during critical stages of the customer’s workflow 

  • Ensure ergonomic flexibility and mobility for different users and spaces 

  • Enable seamless integration with existing customer equipment

We delivered a fully custom vertical laminar flow cabinet with: 

  • A surrounding blackout curtain, enclosing both the workspace and the operator to eliminate natural light exposure 

  • Seamless integration of the customer’s existing device within the workspace 

  • Vertical laminar airflow directed downward onto the worksurface to maintain better than ISO Class 5 clean air conditions

  • A UV-resistant visor and internal UV lighting for sterilisation between uses 

  • Internal power sockets to support a streamlined workflow 

  • A motorised height-adjustable support stand for ergonomic comfort across different users 

  • Wheeled castors to allow easy relocation and flexible positioning

This solution gave the customer a clean, light-controlled, and fully mobile vertical laminar flow workspace, delivering essential process protection without compromising usability, mobility, or their existing lab setup.
