THE TRIMAT BYPASS SYSTEM
Maintaining stable airflow and negative pressure in cleanrooms and containment laboratories can be complex and costly. Traditional air handling designs often require separate room extraction systems, in addition to any biological safety cabinets, which increases installation and operational expenses.
Exclusive to Contained Air Solutions, the TriMAT Bypass System enables a constant exhaust for both the laboratory and any biological safety cabinets, integrated into one streamlined extract.
This revolutionary design integrates seamlessly with CAS’ full range of Biological Safety Cabinets, optimising laboratory airflow, enhancing safety, and simplifying air handling design, all while reducing overall costs.

BENEFITS OF THE TRIMAT SYSTEM
Eliminate the need for separate extract systems. The TriMAT system allows significant additional room extract volume to be drawn through the biological safety cabinet’s exhaust duct. By maintaining a consistent extract volume, it ensures stable airflow without requiring modifications to the room’s air supply, making cleanroom air handling simpler, more efficient, and cost-effective.
The Advisory Committee on Dangerous Pathogens (ACDP) recommends constant negative pressure (-30 to -50 Pa) in containment labs. The TriMAT system ensures compliance by maintaining precise and stable exhaust volumes without adjusting the room air supply.
The TriMAT system allows for multiple biological safety cabinets to be manifolded into a single extract system, efficiently serving both the room and the cabinets. Designed for seamless integration, it eliminates the need for complicated and expensive infrastructure.
In the event of a remote fan failure, the system’s audio and visual alarms notify the operator while automatically switching to recirculating mode. Exhaust air is then filtered via double HEPA filters and safely returned to the laboratory, keeping operators protected and enabling work to be ceased safety.
SEAMLESS INTEGRATION
The TriMAT system is seamlessly integrated within the exhaust module of all CAS Biological Safety Cabinets.
VERSATILE CONFIGURATION
Configurable as a base mounted exhaust module to accommodate lower ceiling heights.
TRADITIONAL VS TRIMAT
What’s the difference between the TriMAT and other bypass systems?
| Traditional Bypass Systems | TriMAT Bypass System | |||
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Installation | ❌ | Requires additional site work for dampers, constant flow regulation, and electrical connections. | ✅ | Seamlessly integrates into CAS Biological Safety Cabinets with no extra site work required. |
| Cost | ❌ | Higher overall installation and ownership costs due to extra components. | ✅ | Reduces installation expenses and total cost of ownership. |
| Reliability | ❌ | Additional system complexity increases the risk of failures and maintenance issues. | ✅ | Simplified design enhances reliability and reduces maintenance. |
| Operational Simplicity | ❌ | Requires ongoing adjustments and monitoring for consistent airflow. | ✅ | Provides stable, automated airflow management with minimal intervention. |

WHAT OUR CUSTOMERS SAY

I do have to say that the quality of the cabinets is really good, UKHSA are very pleased.

We are very satisfied with our equipment and overall the customer service has been fantastic, we will definitely come back to CAS in future if we need anything.

I would like to express my heartfelt thanks and gratitude for the help and assistance provided to the KEMH engineering team.

I wanted to make sure it was recognised that the lads worked their behinds off to make sure I got my cabinets in place before I left for the day. Deliveries like that make my life much easier!!

Our service has just concluded, please pass on our thanks to the visiting engineers – we were impressed with their efficiency and how smoothly this service round went.

The communications generally from CAS were excellent and Brian was great when on site.

The team were extremely hard working with no task being too much trouble, even offering to help other contractors that were working within the small space that we had available to us. They really couldn’t have been any more accommodating.

Just a quick email to say how grateful we are for how everything ran on Friday, we were very impressed by the speed with which everything was smoothed out and taken care of.

All good service as usual from CAS. Your engineer was very helpful, thorough and professional.
